The Ministry of Transport agreed a proposal at the regional Executive to install thermal imaging cameras throughout the Aena network, as one of the measures to guarantee health security for both residents and visitors.

The Canary Islands airports will have thermal imaging cameras that will measure the temperature of travellers when boarding. This initiative of the regional Executive was accepted by the Ministry of Transport and the aforementioned devices also to check passenger fever and will be installed as a "mandatory" measure throughout the Aena network.

This is one of the proposals of the regional government that aims to guarantee the safety of both residents and other travellers who pass through the islands airports, announced by Minister José Luis Ábalos. The head of Transport indicated that from next Monday it will be possible to travel not only between provinces, but between autonomous communities that are in phase three of the de-escalation. The entire archipelago will already be at this level from June 8th.

The fundamental objective is that when the airspace is opened there are all the guarantees that the Canary Islands is a safe destination and this factor is key when promoting the archipelago abroad.
