Police Smash Drug Ring Six Arrested in Lanzarote

39 people have been arrested in the provinces of Pontevedra, Orense, Zaragoza, Toledo, Madrid, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas.

Civil Guard, National Police with the Tax Agency have been investigating for more than a year and have managed to completely dismantle an important criminal network, based in Madrid, dedicated to drug trafficing, mainly cocaine , between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands through parcel post. This organization also operated in Lanzarote, where there have been six arrests, of the total of 39 arrests that have been carried out in different provinces of Spain.

The operation began in the spring of last year when Customs Surveillance officials of the Tax Agency in the Canary Islands arrested a man in Tenerife, after he receive a shipment by parcel post containing 15 kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of MDMA.

In Arrecife, two searches were carried out on November 27th, which resulted in six arrests, the operation ends with 39 people arrested, 13 of them in the province of Las Palmas, 31 of them Colombians, 5 Spanish, 2 Venezuelan and a Brazilian.

In addition, this organization is linked to another important shipment of drugs aborted months before by the Civil Guard, when they arrested a man of South American origin trying to import 38 kilograms of cocaine into the Canary Islands.
