Taxi Driver in Critical Condition

02.01.2020 - The taxi driver has since died in hospital from his injuries.

The driver of the car involved in a crash with a taxi in Playa Blanca on Christmas morning tested positive for drugs and alcohol, as confirmed by the Civil Guard.

According to witnesses to the crash, the vehicle in which two 28-year-old Italian men were travelling was driving in the same direction as the taxi, ahead of him, then the driver lost control of the car, so that the car crossed lanes and the taxi driver couldn't dodge it.

The driver now faces criminal charges and was discharged from hospital on Christmas Day night.

The taxi driver crashed into a tourists car on the LZ2 in Playa Blanca at 07:20 on Christmas morning. The 60 year old taxi driver went into cardiac arrest after firefighters took him from the vehicle, but they managed to reverse the situation. He was transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in a critical condition.

Two other men were also involved in the other car, both were 28 years old one suffered hip trauma and the other mild concussion who refused to be transferred to hospital.
