The socialist general secretary and president of the Government of the Canary Islands affirmed this Sunday that the archipelago is going to collaborate in the reception of Ukrainian refugees, while requesting that this territorial solidarity be extended to migrant minors who arrive on the islands from Africa.

"The Canary Islands are going to respond to the drama that the Ukrainians are suffering," Torres said during his speech at the closing of the 14th Congress of the PSOE Gran Canaria, held this weekend.
"We, according to the responsibility that concerns us, are going to participate with the rest of the communities to welcome these Ukrainian boys and girls, of course we will," he stressed.
Likewise, he has stated that he will do so "together with the rest of the autonomous communities, but also saying emphatically: we ask for the same responsibility for the boys and girls who come from Africa".
