The navy have had to abandon the removal of the ship due to problems with the demolition operator, who did not present a tax certificate of compliance, or offcial documentation to justify the authorisation of waste management in The Canary Islands.
The ship in a state of ruin has been part of the shore line for over four decades near Los Mármoles dock in Arrecife. Officially the existence of tobns of iron has been confirmed as well as bronze and brass. There are also three generators, a main propeller engine and many other structures still in place.
The tender was originally chosen by the Port Authority of Las Palmas but was dropped after military interest, in taking part of the scrapping process.
The tender process will now start again.
